about

We recommend the following products when working with zirconia:

For finishing margins and fitting the copings we use a high-speed hand piece with water such as the NSK Presto Aqua along with a diamond bur # 878-3639 from Henry Schein.

For contouring copings in the sintered state we recommend Meisinger disc # 462-2676 from Patterson Dental.

Adjusting zirconia must be done carefully especially when working inside the zirconia copings.  Be sure to use your hand piece gently at lower rpm’s with as light a touch as possible in order to avoid creating micro fractures that will lead to problems in the future.

Cement or Bond?  Zirconia can be bonded or cemented.  When bonding a zirconia crown, the doctor must first sandblast the inside of the coping with 3M Rocatec and then silonate prior to bonding.  Please call if you have questions regarding this procedure.
